Inmate Escapes While Working As A Trusty In The Keys

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – An inmate from the jailed in the Florida Keys escaped from custody while working as a trusty.

Sean Michael Stacey, 37, was working outside the Plantation Key jail as a maintenance trusty for Monroe County Public Works when he went missing.

Stacey, according to Monroe County Sheriff's Office, was last seen in the area of High Point Road on Plantation Key at 4 PM. His orange jumpsuit was recovered nearby.

Police describe Stacey is 6-feet-tall, 200 pounds with blue eyes and short red hair.

Stacey has been in jail since September 2014 on charges of burglary, grand theft, and criminal mischief.

Law enforcement in Florida City, where Stacey is from, has been notified and is helping the search.

Anyone who sees Stacey or has any information is urged to contact Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
