BROWARD (CBSMiami) – The Broward Sheriff's Office said a recent bust took a stolen high powered assault rifle off the streets of South Florida and only CBS4 has the undercover video and pictures from the bust.

But there's a twist in the story. BSO said one of the men arrested is now on the run after skipping out on his bond.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said in undercover video taken by a detective during a bust, Zhivago Walker is seen trying to sell a stolen assault rifle at a home in Plantation earlier this month. BSO said the assault rifle was stolen from a home in Oakland Park.

Investigators said the men also had another stolen weapon – a handgun taken from a home in Davie. BSO said they also recovered body armor at the scene.

During the bust, BSO says audio recordings capture Walker and a co-defendant, Travis Vassell, telling someone in the room not to put their fingers on the ammunition.

"If I gotta shoot somebody I don't want your fingerprint on scene," one of the men is heard saying.

BSO said as the marijuana smoke filtered through the room the men also discussed whether to put a magazine with more bullets in the rifle.

"I'm pretty sure by the first five rounds I'll get my (expletive) point across," one of the men says.

Another thing you hear according to detectives is a baby crying softly while sitting on Vassell's lap.

BSO spokesperson Dani Moschella said the agency's VIPER Unit, which focuses on the county's most violent criminals, worked the case.

VIPER stands for Violent Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response.

"These detectives target the worst of the worst, so they're looking for guys like Zhivago Walker who have many felony convictions and haven't given up those criminal activities," Moschella told CBS4's Carey Codd. "This is an extremely high priority for the Broward Sheriff's Office."

Investigators said Walker and Vassell spoke freely to an undercover detective about their criminal past.

"They bragged a lot about breaking into police vehicles, stealing trailers and stealing cars," Moschella said.

Detectives said the video and crime scene pictures show why they're trying to find Walker and trying to determine whether he and Vassell are connected to any other crimes in Broward County.

Codd was told that so far this year the VIPER Unit has made 132 arrests that dealt with violent crime and have taken 17 firearms off the streets.

BSO said if you know where Walker is, contact Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
