SUNRISE (CBSMiami) - There's a lot of cooking and prepping going on at The ARC Broward Culinary Institute in Sunrise ahead of the "Delish" competition.

CBS4's Lisa Petrillo visits on a prep day--students and visiting Chef Nuno Grullon, from R House in Wynwood prepare what they'll make for Friday night's cooking competition called "Delish."

Top chefs from Broward and Dade restaurants are teaming up with the students from ARC Broward for the title of "Most Delish County." What's unique about the ARC Culinary Institute is it's a training program for students with developmental disabilities to transform their lives by working in the food world.

Chef Andres works with the students on a daily basis.

"It's really rewarding to teach them every day . They love learning and they are excited about it and for them to go out and get a job and maintain a job in the culinary world makes it worth everything," said Chef Andres.

Chef Nuno, taught the students how to make his classic Brazilian soup dish called Moqueca--his entry in the Delish competition.

"It's fantastic working with them," said Chef Nuno. "I feel like I'm working with my kitchen staff. They are doing a fantastic job and have great spirit and they really want to learn."

ARC Broward Culinary Institute is actually a full-time catering service handling weddings, cocktail parties, bar mitzvahs and more. The Delish event, now in its 4th year, showcases just what the young adults can do.

Dennis Haas is the president of ARC Broward.

"Don't be deceived at all because they might have some developmental disabilities. They have to pass an an admission exam and must be able to work and get to work. It will blow you away how capable these students are," Haas said.

Petrillo got a taste of some of the prepared dishes which Chef Nuno and his new team will be serving up tomorrow night at Delish.

The Moqueca had mahi mahi, scallops red peppers, yellow peppers, coconut milk and more.

"The vegetables with the coconut broth gives it a real good texture and it is delish. Delish is the word," said Petrillo.

Delish is on at 7pm Friday night at Young at Art Children's Museum in Davie. Tickets are $150 per person and benefit ARC Broward. For more info www.arcbroward.com.
