HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – The Hollywood Police Department has confirmed that the man accused of stabbing his ex-wide in her Hollywood apartment was hit by a car when trying to flee the scene.

Investigators said 57-year-old Jorge Ruiz forced his way into his ex-wife's apartment, located at the Lomar Apartment complex in the 500 block of South Crescent Drive, when she had opened the door to dust her rug on Saturday.

According to the arrest report, the woman was hit multiple times in the chest and neck.

Neighbors heard the screams of the woman and came to her aid.

While the woman's neighbors were helping her, Ruiz fled on his bicycle, but was then hit by a passing car.

Ruiz is facing attempted felony murder, armed kidnapping and aggravated stalking.
