Caught On Camera: Man Steals Propane Tanks From Miami Business

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Surveillance cameras captured a thief steal more than a dozen propane tanks from a Miami dollar store.

The video shows a pickup truck pull up to the propane tanks in front of the Dollar General at 5175 SW 8th St.

A man gets out and approaches the tanks. He appears to use some sort of tool to try to open the storage container.

After his first attempt is unsuccessful, he then goes back to his truck.

A few moments later returns – this time he manages to get the container open.

He begins grabbing propane tanks and loading them into the bed of the truck.

Lucy Apolinario discovered the theft when she arrived at work.

In Spanish she said, "When I came to open the store at 7 a.m. I was surprised to see this [storage cabinet] open. Immediately I went to check the cameras and I called police. When I saw the video I saw what happened."

She's frustrated by the crime.

"We come to work every day and we feel so bad to think people are coming to rob us.  We work, others rob. This is not fair," she added.

Now she's asking everyone to take a good look at the video to help police figure out who the man is.

"If someone sees the news and recognizes the guy please call the police because we will feel more secure – especially all the people in the area," she said.
