Ultra Music Fest Ends On A Smooth Note

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Another year of Ultra Music Fest in downtown Miami has come and gone.

The breakdown of Ultra Music Festival, with loads of garbage getting picked up and stages and scaffolding coming down, is a full production.

By many accounts this year's event went rather smoothly as opposed to last when a number of incidents almost lead to the cancellation of the event.

City of Miami Police credited new security measures. The changes included a minimum age requirement of 18, reinforced fences and an increased police presence.

"We've had officers on bicycles and horses, Border Patrol officers and, again, not only visibility and safety of the public but also directing traffic and alleviating some of our traffic concerns in the area," police spokesman Officer Freddie Cruz.

Police reported 26 arrests Sunday, 27 on Saturday and 23 on Friday - most were for misdemeanors.

Anita Ricco, visiting from Orlando for the festival, loves the happy but is ready for it to be over. She told CBS4's Gaby Fleischman that she's exhausted and hungry and how it's time for her to "go home and sleep and recover."

Many residents in the area are saying good riddance to the noise, crowds and traffic saying three days is enough.

Before the festival ended, some late comers tried to squeeze in just a little more music.

"I'm excited! I'm ready! I came a little bit late today because I'm still trying to recover from the past two days but definitely ready," said Michael Pagan on Sunday.

It was just the attendees who were thrilled to be in Miami. Before they took the stage, Nicky Romero and Kygo said they were excited to be part of an elite group of DJs chosen to perform.

"To be here in person and to actually get a chance to play it's just, yeah, a dream come true," said Kygo.

"I think it is one of the most important festivals of the world as everyone's always looking forward to it to drop all the new songs," said Nicky Romero.

As the final of day of music drew to a close on Sunday, many of those who spent three days dancing to the pulsing beat said they can't wait for next year.

"I'm going to be back again," said Kayla Hill, who flew in from Canada to go to Ultra. "I love Miami!"
