Miami Police Release Video In Hopes Catching Teen's Killers

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The City of Miami Police Department believes security footage from Jackson Memorial Hospital's surveillance cameras could hold the key to finding the killers of 16-year-old boy.

"We don't know if they are involved or just trying to render aide.  But we need to know what they know about the shooting," said Miami Police Chief Rodolfo Llanes.

Richard Hallman was shot in Allapatah on Tuesday at around 6 p.m. Minutes later two men, one in white and another in a black hoodie, were captured on camera dragging Hallman into the hospital.

Just a couple of hours later, gunfire could be heard in nearby Overtown.

This time 10-year-old Marlon Merv Eason was hit in the head while playing basketball.

The two murders of children set off police, community leaders and neighbors to find the killers.

Thursday flyers were handed out in the area surrounding Merv's shooting.

Friday night police looked to the neighborhood where Hallman was killed.

"I've never handed out a flyer back to back information, but the murders were within an hour of each other," said Detective Kevin Ruggiero, who is leading the investigation.

The good news is their efforts appear to be paying off. Calls are coming in.

"We have to vet that information to see if that's a lead or if it's not," said Llanes.

Miami Police maintain that despite the proximity and timing the two shootings are not connected.

A $3,000 reward for tips may help.
