MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A young Miami firefighter will soon be laid to rest after doctors discovered he had a brain tumor last week.

Rafael "Ralf" Garcia died this week after the deadly discovery.

His wife, who's pregnant with their son, is now grieving. Their very personal ordeal was chronicled on Facebook showing the heartbreaking details in her own words of a love story cut short.

Ralf Garcia was just 28-years old. He was a man who saved lives fighting fires and his beautiful wife, Maeghan, pregnant with their son, who will be named Mason.

On March 15th, doctors discovered a mass on Garcia's brain. The 17th of March, Maeghan opened up to the world through her Facebook page.

She remained optimistic throughout the week. Then Sunday, Ralf Garcia was rushed into emergency surgery at the University of Miami Hospital. On Monday, she confirmed that Garcia was on life support so that family and friends could say goodbye.

Garcia was taken off life support Tuesday and that night his fellow firefighters transported him from the University of Miami Hospital to a funeral home. They drove by his first station, Number 5, and by his last assignment at the downtown station.

Maeghan Garcia wrote on Facebook, "My love is finally resting in peace." She shared that the transplant team came to take his organs and wrote "Ralf will be saving three more lives through his passing."

Ralf Garcia will be laid to rest on Thursday. Maeghan Garcia is due to give birth to their son, Mason, in May.

A www.gofundme.com page has been set up to take donations for his son's college fund.
