MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- There's a lot going on a the home office of Grammy Award winning producer Rudy Perez, as he and his team plan for what's being billed at the biggest concert Miami Beach has ever seen.

Rudy is the musical director of the big event. Bruce Orosz is the executive producer of Miami Beach's Centennial Celebration.

"Miami was birthed on March 26, 1915, so in celebration of that date, 100 years later, we're going to do 100 hours of fun, artsy and amazing events on Miami Beach," Orosz  said.

The biggest event is a concert on 7th Street and Ocean Drive called Hard Rock Rising. It's the first of what will be global beach concerts by Hard Rock. Miami Beach's Centennial Celebration kicks it off.

"I'm elated," said Perez. "These guys called me up. Him and he and our rock star Mayor Phillip Levine called me and said we want you to put on greatest musical show."

So Perez got busy confirming South Florida's super star local musicians such as, Gloria Estefan, Barry Gibb, Jon Secada and the latest artist to call Miami home, Andrea Bocelli , who will perform with The Miami Symphony Orchestra.

"When you have Andrea Bocelli and a 90-piece orchestra with choirs, we wanted him to do more. So he's excited and he loves Miami. He said why don't I do 45 minutes so that's exactly what he's going to do," Perez explained.

Barry Gibb will also perform a 45-minute set along with his 15 piece band. Other artists performing include Wyclef Jean, Flo Rida and more.

"Miami has a such a rich culture and we want that diversity and that experience to be had this night especially because it's the 100th birthday,"Orosz said.

"We are so excited that this is going to be the greatest concert held in Miami Beach," Perez gushed.

The Hard Rock Rising Concert takes place Thursday, March 26th on 7th Street and OceanDrive.

The free concert officially starts at 8 p.m. There are premium seats available which can be bought online at www.miamibeach100.com.
