Lauderhill Cop Arrested After Showing Up At Ex-Wife's Home

TAMARAC (CBSMiami) -- A Lauderhill police officer is under arrest after appearing at his ex-wife's home, violating a restraining order against him relating to domestic violence.

Broward Sheriff's deputies arrested Michael Bigwood, 36, on  Wednesday.

According to an arrest report, after celebrating St. Patrick's Day, Bigwood went to his ex-wife's house while he was drunk and began pounding on her door demanding to speak with her.

The report also states, before he got to the home, he had called and sent messages to his ex-wife, who is a Broward Sheriff's Office detective.  

Deputies said he later admitted to showing up at the home after drinking alcohol.

In a phone call, the arrest report notes, that Bigwood apologized to his ex-wife several times for the incident

The Lauderhill Police Department issued the following statement in regards to the incident, "Sergeant Bigwood has been placed on Administrative Leave without pay. He had previously been on paid Administrative Leave since January 2015 in connection to the domestic violence injunction."

Broward Sheriff's Office is conducting a criminal investigation into the case while the Lauderhill Police Department is conducting an internal investigation.

Bigwood's bond is set at $15,000.
