Traffic Alert: Formula E Race Closures On Saturday

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Drivers in downtown Miami may face some changes in their commute Saturday.

The are is hosting Formula E Grand Prix cars that are set to race over the weekend which include some closures.

Traffic in parts of downtown Miami  is being rerouted Saturday. Residents and merchants in the area should expect delays.

Biscayne Boulevard is closed from Northeast 3rd Street to 14th Street. It will reopen on Sunday at 5 a.m.

In the meantime, all northbound traffic will be rerouted to NE 1st Avenue and southbound will be rerouted to N. Miami Avenue.

Northeast 2nd Avenue from NE 14th Street to 11th Terrace is also shutdown. Interstate 395 at the NE 2nd Ave exit coming from the Dolphin Expressway (SR836) is also closed. Both sections will reopen late Saturday night.

Miami Police officers will be stationed along the route to help drivers.

Miami-Dade public transportation routes will also be altered throughout the weekend.
