Tannenbaum: "Have to Hit" on Draft Picks For Sustained Success

Interviews-wqam

The Miami Dolphins landed the unanimous supreme free agent of the offseason after officially signing Ndamukong Suh to a $60 million fully-guaranteed contract on Wednesday.

Mike Tannenbaum, the team's new Executive VP of Football Operations, joined Joe Rose on WQAM to chat about Miami's new cog at the core of their defense and what the team needs to do going forward to catapult the Dolphins back into contention.

"We feel good about it," Mike Tannenbaum said of making Suh the highest paid defensive player in NFL history. "With that said, we're going to have challenging decisions to make not only this year but into the future and the draft's going to be important but I've got to be candid. If we were talking this morning and Ndamukong Suh wasn't on the Dolphins I'd be saying the same things. To have sustained success you have to hit on your draft choices."

As we wait for the next set of moves, Mike Wallace's situation is one of intrigue after coming out publicly last week saying he'd be open to restructuring. Tannenbaum says Wallace is "on the team" and that they've "had dialogue" with his agent and will continue to do so.

"Everybody wants everything wrapped up in a bow on the first day and if we did I'd have less weight and more hair so I wish things were that simple."
