Ndamukong Suh Officially Signs With Miami Dolphins

WQAM

The Miami Dolphins officially reeled in the whale of 2015 NFL Free Agency.

The team finally agreed to terms with defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh on a six-year, $114 million deal Wednesday, according to to the Miami Herald, making him the highest paid defensive player in NFL history. The contract includes $60 million fully guaranteed, reported Pro Football Talk, a number behind only quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, and Drew Brees.

Joining four-time Pro Bowler Cameron Wake, Earl Mitchell and Olivier Vernon, the addition of Suh could potentially form the most feared defensive line in football. Pro Football Focus graded Suh as the league's third best defensive tackle last season while they pegged Wake as the top 4-3 defensive end. Suh also ranked sixth among defensive tackles in run stop percentage and fifth in pass rushing productivity, making him one of the most balanced, dangerous interior lineman in the league.

In six years with the Lions he registered 180 tackles and 36 sacks. The addition will look to boost a defense that shined for much of the first half of the 2014 season only to weaken down the stretch, allowing 35 or more points in four of their last six games.

Raining on the Dolphins' parade some is the worry the NFL might come down on them for violating the league's legal tampering period, which allows teams to negotiate with impending free agents three days before they are set to hit the market, but no contract terms are to be reached.

Team officials were described as feeling "nervous" about a potential investigation, the Miami Herald reported Tuesday, but they're not alone as contract details leaked over the weekend regarding many other top free agents. Many have speculated that the delay in signing Suh might've been an attempt to mask any issues with tampering.
