Video Shows Alleged Hit-And-Run Driver At Club Prior To Crash

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Prosecutors have released new videos and photos in their case against a man accused in a deadly crash.
Video from a Miami Beach nightclub allegedly shows Alejandro Alvarez, 21, in the hours before he's accused of hitting two bicyclists on the Rickenbacker Causeway in January.

In the video, released by prosecutors, Alvarez appears to be at the bar.
According to court documents, Alvarez told police he was at Twist until about 4 a.m. the morning of the crash that killed Walter Reyes and seriously injured his friend and fellow cyclist Henry Hernandez.
Hernandez told officers what he remembered.
"I was hit and I think I flew in the air and I tumbled a couple of times onto the grass," he said during an interview with police.
A 911 caller described the scene.
"They are cyclists and they got hit by an auto, a car."
"Is the vehicle that hit him still there or they're gone?" asked the dispatcher.
"No, they're gone," replied the caller.
There is another 911 call. This one, prosecutors say made by Alvarez himself.
"Where did this happen on Crandon?" the dispatcher asks.
"Right on Crandon by the tennis courts," is the reply.
Alvarez is accused of leaving the scene of the crash and returning a short time later.
Photos show the car Alvarez was allegedly driving, its windshield shattered.
Officer Oswaldo Rodriguez, an officer at the scene says on an audio recording, "Upon him approaching me, I did notice an odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his person. He had bloodshot eyes and somewhat of a slurred speech and he was hysterically crying."
Later, when questioned by police, Alvarez still sounded emotional on an audio recording. He asked repeatedly whether he would go to jail.
A detective can be heard saying, "The gentleman on the bicycle. He died, so it becomes a little ..a little bad situation because of that."
Alvarez replies, "I know," and can be heard crying.
