FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) -- A U.S. Department of State worker is behind bars, accused of possessing child pornography.

Published reports identify the man as Peter Meyers, 53, a foreign services specialist.

According to a federal criminal complaint, investigators found Meyers sharing videos of child porn. The complaint says they found Meyers sharing child porn and "…law enforcement successfully completed the download of fifty video files and 8 image files depicting child pornography…"

The complaint adds that "(I)t was determined that all of the files were videos that depicted children under the age of eighteen engaged in sexual acts and/or poses consistent with child pornography."

The complaint says that some of the videos recovered from Meyers' computer referenced rape and incest.

The complaint says Meyers told police that he did download movies through a file-sharing program but he then asked if he could speak with an attorney.

CBS4's Carey Codd reached out to the U.S. State Department for a comment and an update on Meyers' status with the agency. As of Tuesday evening, they had not responded.

Prosecutors recommended that Meyers be held in jail without bond.
