Young Father Killed In Opa-Locka Drive-By Shooting

OPA-LOCKA (CBSMiami) – A young father is dead and a woman was sent to the hospital after an overnight drive-by shooting in Opa-Locka.

"You not even safe in your own house. You ain't safe nowhere," said Lydia Corker.

Her brother, 26-year-old Centrell Corker, was killed when someone drove up to 2040 York Street and opened fire from a car, police said.

"He was a good person. I mean he talked a lot of stuff, but everyone knew whatever he was saying he didn't mean it. He always talked about him doing better in life as far as playing football and working things like that," said Corker.

A woman was also struck and rushed to the hospital.

"It's sad she's in the hospital too and he's dead and got two, my two nephews, beautiful kids," said Corker.

Now family and friends are left to mourn, hoping the killer is caught.

Please, anybody who know anything anonymous call, nobody got to know, tell what happened. You know something, you know the killer, tell what happened man because it's sad. A lot of young men out here is dying," said Corker.
