MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Two men were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital on Monday after police say shots were fired at them by two people who fled the scene in a black Infiniti with dark-tinted windows.

The shooting happened just after noon and was the second such daytime drive-by shooting in Miami since last Wednesday.

"I heard multiple gunshots. It sounded like multiple gunshots," said Charles Bullard. "I just heard shots. When I heard the noise, I thought about staying on the floor where I was."

One of the injured was found in the 3400 block of Day Avenue, the second just blocks away on Percivil Avenue.

Chopper 4 flew over both crime scenes, 3452 Day Avenue and the other at 3122 Percival Avenue, where both victims were placed on stretchers and taken to Miami Fire rescue units and transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Police said one victim was shot in the leg and another victim, who was seen from Chopper 4, had a bandage by his right shoulder.

One of the victim's aunts went to the crime scene but said she did not want to say anything about the shooting. She said she was not sure how her nephew was doing.

"This is broad daylight. It was 12 and it could have affected schools close by. Not just that someone could have gotten killed," said Miami police Sgt. Freddie Cruz. "The information we have is that two individuals fled the scene in a black Infiniti. We don't know if it was drug related or gang related. We ask anyone in the community who knows anything please come forward. We need to put these guys behind bars before they strike again."

Neighbors like Bullard and Melvin Culpepper hope people with information will come forward.

"If they know anything they should come forward so we can find out what the deal is," said Culpepper.

"Something needs to be done. I don't know what can be done. I am not sure but we need to think about it. There is too much of that going on," said Bullard.

Another neighbor who did not want to show her face or give her name said she was terrified. "I heard multiple gunshots," she said. "Multiple gunshots and my biggest concern was for my boyfriend inside this apartment."

Investigators are working on description of those in the Infiniti who they would like to question.

Police do not have a good description of the people inside the black Infiniti. They have been scouring the neighborhood for surveillance tape.

"We are going door to door looking for information," he said. "But that is a challenge. Some people don't want to get involved. But we hope they will get involved and help us out."

They urge anyone with information to call them or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).

Callers are kept anonymous and can be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
