Police: Man Tried To Lure Kids By Offering To Buy Candy

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Police are looking for a man who they said tried to lure five kids into his car by offering to take them to the store to get some candy.

On Wednesday, around 8 AM, a 13-year-old and his four younger siblings were walking northbound on 1st Place from NW 15th when the suspect approached them in a 4-door beige Nissan Maxima, according to the City of Miami Police Department.

The man stopped the car on the roadway, opened his door, and asked them if they wanted to go to the store to get some candy, according to police.

Police said the suspect never got out of the car or made any threats.

When one of the kids took out his phone to call his mother the suspect closed the door and fled on NW 1st Place in a northbound direction.

Police describe the suspect as a Black male, 50-60 years old, short black hair, full gray beard, and a slim build. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and black cargo shorts.
