BROWARD (CBSMiami) – On Thursday, 80-year-old Delores Sheines had a Broward courtroom in stitches as she flung one liners at a bond court judge.

But on Friday no one was laughing.

Sheines was arrested for violating a restraining order that her ex-husband had obtained.

She was ordered to stay away from the home they once shared together.

Sheines joked about her situation with bond court Judge John Hurley on Thursday.

"How am I doing?" Hurley asked her.

"You could do better" she deadpanned, causing even inmates to double over with laughter.

Sheines was supposed to be released from jail on Friday morning, but it became apparent she had nowhere to go.

So Friday afternoon Hurley called her back to court to discuss alternatives.

Her daughter Beth Sheines, who lives in New York, addressed the court about the circumstances surrounding her mother's arrest.

"She's very entertaining one minute and the next she's ready to take you down," she said about her mom.

Then she shined a light on a dark subject

"My mother has a mental disability and belongs in a hospital not jail. I have been trying to do that for six months, but I can't do that in the state of Florida," said Beth Sheines.

"I'm trying to find an alternative and be compassionate, but she has an ex-husband who has a restraining order and she can't go back there," said Hurley

After much discussion, Hurley ordered Sheines to be sent to a facility where she can have a mental health evaluation.

Delores Sheines told the judge, "I hope it's today."
