BROWARD (CBSMiami) – North Broward County residents crammed into a commission hearing Tuesday afternoon to weigh in on what they call a growing problem – the Monarch Hill Landfill dubbed Mount Trashmore.
"It seems they want to destroy my life and everybody else's" said one retiree.

The commission is considering a proposal by the landfill operator Waste Management to close the north waste-to-energy incinerator at the landfill.
The company claims they have less trash to burn since they no longer have a monopoly on garbage disposal in the county.
Residents fear that closing the incinerator will mean the landfill will get even bigger.
"We have never had this much garbage deposited in our landfill. They are deceiving the commission," said Mary Blasi.
Batya Wininger lives near the landfill and is worried about the effect on her property value and her health.
"The more the smell, the less people want to pay," said Wininger,
Waste Management denies they have any plans to expand the landfill.
"The belief that it will lead to a bigger landfill is incorrect," said company spokesman Michael Moskowitz.
The commission was scheduled to vote on a new contract on March 3rd.
But that may be delayed.
