MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miko Grimes, the wife of Miami Dolphins cornerback Brent Grimes, made national headlines when she went after the NFL on twitter.

"I'm strong, I'm aggressive, I lift weight – there's nothing punk about me," said Miko Grimes during a radio interview at 560 WQAM.

While the Grimes family was in Arizona to watch Brent Grimes in the Pro Bowl, Miko Grimes needed oral surgery. But rather than fly home, she had the procedure done in Glendale.

Miko Grimes said her husband was allowed to join her after getting the okay from the NFL to miss a Pro Bowl practice. However, the league still fined the three-time Pro Bowler.

Despite missing practice, Brent Grimes stood out during the game recording an interception and multiple pass break ups. But when he snubbed for Defensive MVP – Miko Grimes had enough.

She went on a Twitter rant, which called into question the league's concussion protocols and the NFL's handling of domestic violence cases. A rant she says was met by positive feedback from players and players' wives, of which she would not name.

"They were like thank you for speaking up for us, for those of us who can't talk. For us players who can't talk about how we feel because if we do we get fined, we get suspended, we get kicked out of the league," she said. "A lot of women called me know that I know have been physically assaulted by their husbands and what they say to them is 'nothing's going to happen to me. You need to stop calling the police. All you're doing is messing with my money.'"

Brent Grimes himself called into Saturday's radio show to say he doesn't try to censor his wife's opinion and acknowledges the NFL isn't what you think it is when you're a little kid.

CBS4 reached out to the Dolphins, and despite Miko Grimes' recent comments about the NFL, her husband's status with the team has not changed and there's been no consideration of a change.
