Homestead-Miami Speedway Hosts Lawnmower Race

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Homestead-Miami Speedway hosts races with fast cars but on Saturday, they hosted a different type of race.
More than 30 people rode their modified lawnmowers to the finish line, all in the name of helping others.
Teams and individuals competed around the 1/8-mile course located right outside Homestead-Miami Speedway in heats. Heat winners then squared off against each other in a run-off to determine the overall individual champions.
Proceeds from the race benefit an organization that helps people with physical and mental disabilities.
