FWC Investigating Boat Crash Near Sea Isle Marina

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers are investigating a boat crash that sent one woman to the hospital on Saturday.
Miami Fire Rescue first responded to the boating accident, which happened near the Sea Isle Marina located near 16 Street and North Bayshore Drive.
The boat reportedly slammed into a wood piling or pillar in the water at around 8:30 p.m.

None of the nine people aboard were thrown off the boat when it crashed, but a woman was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Fire rescue officials said her injuries are not serious but she was taken to the trauma center as a precaution.
"The other eight people that are here on scene seem to be okay, but obviously they are very shaken up by what happened and they are being interviewed by FWC, who will determine the cause of this incident and how it could have been prevented," City of Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll.
They were boating in shallow water when the crash happened. The impact caused water to start coming into the boat and it had to be towed back to Sea Isle Marina.

CBS4's Travell Eiland saw one person on board being given a field sobriety test.
An FWC official said the operator of the boat is being charged with boating under the influence.
