MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Go-Go Fresh is a home away from home for those who live and work near Alton Road and 9th street and a quick dining destination for those who don't.

Serving delicious, fresh, and affordable food (everything on the menu is under $10) Go-Go's is a staple on South Beach.

Owner Osmar Nunez has seen a lot of changes since he first opened in 2004, including 10 months of road construction directly in front of his eatery.

"It was a tough 10 months but our regulars kept on coming, so it felt even better," Nunez said.

From the homemade empanadas to the made-to-order salads, it's all fresh and nothing is ever saved. Everything is made on-premises using premium, fresh ingredients.

"They ask me how do you do it? How does it taste so fresh? The only answer I have is we sell everything we have…whatever we make, we sell!" he said.

The attention is personal—it's no fuss.

Customers can do take-out, eat inside or outside as many do every day. On a typical afternoon, some 350 customers are served. Nunez knows his regulars well, many have become good friends.

"I'm here every single lunch," Nunez said. "People come over and over again and we have all become like a small family."

Traditional authentic Argentinian empanadas are a sense of pride at the eatery. Nunez brings the dough in from his home country.

The result, depending on which you order, is a warm treat. CBS4's Lisa Petrillo tried a classic, filled with ham and cheese.

"It's like your mom's best grilled cheese. It's clean and fresh and delicious," Petrillo said.

The chicken soup, Petrillo describes as soup for the soul.

"If you have a scratchy throat or just want some comfort soup this soup hits the spot. The flavors are delicious," Petrillo said.

Petrillo chose the "Make Your Own Salad, Salad" which is a mix of kale, mandarin oranges and antibiotic-free chicken salad.

"The chicken does not have a lot of mayonnaise at all and it has walnuts and cranberries. With the kale, it's a perfect blend of crunch and smooth," said Petrillo.

GO-GO'S: fresh, fast and a favorite of foodies in the know!

GO-GO Fresh is open serving lunch and dinner seven days a week.
