Miami Hurricanes Athletic Director Blake James joined WQAM this morning to discuss a variety of topics, including the University's new partnership with adidas, the disappointment of this past year's football season, and if any potential changes are coming before next season.

"There's always changes," James said on the Joe Rose Show this morning. "The changes might not always be as apparent to someone on the outside as they are to someone within the system. And so what are those changes, are they different schematically from the type of offense we're running to the type of defense we're running? Are they changes that are different from how we're practicing? Are they changes that are different from personnel?

"I think any given year you're making changes because if you're not making changes, you're standing still and that's how you're getting passed by."

James pointed how although Oregon or Ohio State will be crowned as the national champion early next week, both programs will make changes in an effort to get better. He didn't point to any specific moves within Miami's program besides calling for a "need to make changes in our win/loss column."

Another interesting nugget from the interview came about when conversation shifted to the level of compensation budgeted for Miami's assistant coaches. Rose asked if financial restraints are hindering the school's ability to get the coaches they want, but James thinks "that's been misrepresented."

"It is a situation where I know we're very competitive right now in the ACC with our assistant coaches and, in particular, our coordinators," James said. "Obviously there's some schools in the SEC that are paying incredible amounts to their coordinators and I'm not going to say that we're paying at that same level but when you look at where we are at nationally, the University of Miami is very competitive with our assistant coach base and, in particular, our coordinators."
