MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Miami police are investigating a third shooting in less than 24 hours in the Liberty City area.

The latest shootings happened Wednesday morning.

At NW 64th Street and NW 11th Avenue, Miami Fire Rescue Spokesman Lt. Ignatius Carroll said at least one male was shot but did not release the extent of the injury.

At 1781 NW 53rd Street, Chopper 4 spotted a tarp covered body on the ground behind Dolphin Fisheries Inc.

Police have not said if they believe the shootings are related.

Tuesday night, a gun battle erupted shortly before 9 p.m. in front of a Liberty City apartment building near the corner of Northwest 62nd Street and 13th Court.

Neighbors said they heard a barrage of gun fire from what sounded like three different caliber guns.

Most of the bullets, roughly a dozen, were fired at one particular apartment, where the man who lives there was killed. Two women were grazed by bullets.

"You will hear a lot of people out here talking about how this is a senseless shooting and a lot of innocent victims getting hit as a result and they are hoping that this is going to stop, so this is where the police plead for the community involvement," said Carroll.

Anyone with information on the shootings is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
