CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – One car chase, two crashes and several boxes of marijuana recovered by police sounds like something out of an action flick. But for some City of Miami police officers, it's how they started off their new year.

Miami police received a call at 3 p.m. on Thursday from a woman who said she was being shot at by a man at the Miami Princess Hotel located at 4251 NW 11th St.

The woman told authorities the shooter was in a white Dodge Ram pickup truck.

After police found the truck, they began to pursue 30-year-old Jorge Rochela.

One officer in a marked car collided with another vehicle at NW 42nd Ave. and 2nd St. The people in the vehicle were treated and released by Miami Fire Rescue. The Miami Police officer injured in the crash was taken to Doctor's Hospital in stable condition with minor injuries.

Another officer who continued to chase said Rochela began to dump boxes of marijuana from the truck.

Police said Rochela was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with foot injuries and a possible head injury.

His charges are pending.

The woman alleging she had been shot at has not been able to be reached.

Investigators have not said how much marijuana was dumped.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471- TIPS (8477).
