MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A former Broward School Board member convicted of official misconduct was sentenced to five years' probation Friday.

Stephanie Kraft was found guilty last week of using her position on the School Board to benefit developers of a housing project who had hired her husband, Mitch Kraft, as a consultant.

Prosecutors contend the Krafts helped the developers obtain a $500,000 break on impact fees that one of their housing projects had to pay to the school district. In return, they allegedly accepted $10,000 from the developers.

Mitch Kraft has pleaded not guilty and will stand trial separately.

Stephanie Kraft was facing a maximum of five years in prison.
