Winderman: "Pat Riley Has Put Everything Into 2016"

By WQAM Staff

The Miami Heat has dropped to a lackluster 10-12 coming off a blowout loss to the Denver Nuggets last night. With December 15 marking the first time members of this past summer's free agent class are eligible to be traded, will Heat president Pat Riley be looking to make a deal?

"There has never been a December trade in the history of the Miami Heat," Ira Winderman told Big O on WQAM this afternoon. "And times are different now, Pat Riley has a sense of urgency. Maybe this will be the year that Pat Riley pulls the trigger earlier and more frequently than he has in recent seasons."

The question is whether Riley would be willing to improve the present roster at the cost of sacrificing cap room in the summer of 2016, when superstars like Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis become available.

"Pat Riley has put everything into 2016," Winderman said. "He is not going to take on a contract for more than two years.

"His 2016 is like his 2010. He's going to sit back, deal with the results and go for the big splash."
