LAUDERDALE LAKES (CBSMiami) -- A Lauderdale Lakes family who was displaced after a fire damaged their home on Tuesday is getting help from CBS4 viewers.

Broward Sheriff's Deputies said the fire broke out at 3531 NW 35 Terrace just after 7:00 p.m.

When crews arrived, smoke was billowing through the front door of the home.

Deputies said three girls, ages nine, 14 and 15 were home alone while one of the children was cooking for the family and left the stove on.

After being unemployed for more than a year, Veronica Woods had just started to build up her life. The the devastating fire tore it all down again.

"Everything collapsed, now I just have to pick myself back up and stack my blocks back up," said Woods.

Woods and her three girls were out in the cold until 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday. But that changed when CBS4 viewers offered to pay for their hotel room for a week.

"I am crying so much because of the happiness.. not because I am sad. I am crying because there is still good hearted people still in this world," said Woods.

Kenneth Persey, the owner of Redline Luxury Car Rentals in Miami also saw her story and decided to take the family shopping.

"When I got there, they had a little shopping basket with basically toothbrushes and some slippers and I said, 'no, I think you really should get something that's going to hold your kids over,'" said Persey.

He gave the family a one-thousand dollar spending limit for clothes, games and food.

Veronica broke down in tears when she talked about the kindness her family received.

Although the family won't have a home for the holidays and may have to live in a shelter, they are grateful.
