Audio: Jim Larrañaga, Miami Hurricanes Basketball Coach
Miami Hurricanes (7-0) basketball head coach Jim Larrañaga joined the Joe Rose Show with Curtis Stevenson on WQAM this morning, chatting about Miami's undefeated season and their upcoming clash with the Illinois Fighting Illini (6-0), set for Tuesday evening in Coral Gables (9 p.m. on 560 WQAM).
Larrañaga was gushing when asked about guard Sheldon McClellan, Miami's leading scorer at 16.7 points per game.
"Sheldon is a very, very gifted athlete," Larrañaga said of the 6-foot-5 junior. "He's very fast. He jumps extremely high and has all the offensive skills you want."
A contributing reason for McClellan's success, and the 17th ranked Canes in general, is the team's unselfishness nature, something coach talked at length about.
"[McClellan] is playing with guys who get him the ball. One of the best things we're doing right now is sharing the ball and finding the open man and Sheldon has been the recipient of a lot of good passes.
