MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A jury is deliberating the fate of a woman accused of killing the man she suspected of murdering her husband.
Closing arguments were held Monday in the trial of Janepsy Carballo.
In May 2008, Ilan Nissim was shot six times in the back after, prosecutors say, Carballo lured him to her North Miami home.
In April, 2008, Carballo's husband was shot by two men in front of the couple's home. A home surveillance video showed the men with dreadlocks pull up in a white Toyota, fire, flee, then circle back to finish him off, according to CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald.
Carballo told investigators she thought the man behind the shooting was Nissim because of a bad business deal. She said her husband had given Nissim $180,000 for a real estate transaction, but the money was later stolen.
Prosecutors say Nissim had nothing to do with that murder.
Caraballo's defense has maintained that she was in fear of Nissim and shot him in self-defense
Carballo faces life in prison if convicted.
