MARATHON (CBSMiami/AP) — Authorities said Florida Keys residents need to be on the lookout for scary emails claiming to come from a "professional hit man."

"Contact my email if you want to live," is the terrifying message delivered in the scam officials said.

Authorities said it has recently had two reports of such an email.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the email also warns people not to contact the police and that they are being watched by the assassin. If the victim doesn't follow the instructions, the hit man's email claims the threats will be extended to the person's family members.

Officials said the next step in the scam is likely to extort money.

Sheriff's officials said people should not respond to such an email.
