When the man and woman reached the intersection of SW 137th Ave., he reportedly stepped out of the vehicle and began shooting at her.

Fearing for her life, police said the woman stepped on the gas to avoid being hit, hitting multiple vehicles with her Ford F-150 truck in the process.

The ex-husband reportedly got back into his Ford F-250 and shot himself.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue declared him dead on the scene.

"This could have been something that could have resulted in something that was more tragic, because you could have had stray bullets as he was shooting and she was dodging," said Miami-Dade Public Information Officer, Det. Alvaro Zabaleta.

Investigators said the pair was recently divorced, but did not say what triggered the argument.

Police have not released the identity of the man or the woman. They do have children together.

Authorities said no one else was injured during the incident.
