MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Amid an investigation into a deadly drive-by shooting that took the life of a 19-year old man, his family took to the streets of  Opa Locka to help solve the case.

The shooting happened Monday night outside an apartment building in the area of 135th Terrace and Atlantic Avenue.

Officers said the victim, Calvin D. Eford was shot multiple times including once in the head. He died due to the injuries.

On Tuesday, CBS4's Peter D'Oench joined his mother Roselyn Eford exclusively when she went door to door with brand new Miami-Dade Police Homicide flyers asking for help in the case.

"He was a good person. He don't bother nobody. He just was trying to make money out here and they just killed him for no reason," said Roselyn Eford. "He meant a lot to the family. He's a good person. He didn't get in no trouble. We just want to find out who did this to us."

Eford's sister is deeply troubled over his death.

"My brother is a kind boy. He didn't mess with no one. He kept to himself. I don't know why they did this but it needs justice," said his sister Charlene Eford. "That's my brother and I can't believe that he is gone."

D'Oench asked his mother, "Had he been in trouble before?"

"No, never. He never went to jail," replied Roselyn.

He then asked, "Any idea why this happened?"

"Maybe someone was jealous. I really don't know. It don't make any sense to kill somebody like that," replied Roselyn.

A check of Eford's records show he had not been arrested before.

That's why Eford's mother and sister are fanning out with flyers looking for answers.

"Please come forward with this because he was my brother. He did not deserve this," said Charlene. "Please imagine it's your own child or brother. Please just help us, please."

Detectives believe the gunman or gunmen knew the 19-year old. So far they have no suspects.

"I miss him dearly and I just wish I could bring him back," said Roselyn. "If they know anything please come forward. There is $3,000 if anybody has seen anything. Because he was a good person."

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade County Crimestopppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
