MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Miami paramedics rushed a boy and an older teen to the hospital after they were injured in a shooting.

Authorities said the shooting took place at NW 57th Avenue and 57th Street just before noon.

Loved ones from two families say they are upset about this shooting spree.

Pamela James, whose 17-year-old son James Leake was shot in the buttocks and his pelvis, did not want to show all of her face but she wanted to speak out.

She told CBS4's Peter D'Oench, "All I know is I got the call that my son was shot and I hopped in a car and got on I-95 and came down to the hospital. He's okay, but I am angry about the violence. It needs to stop. I don't know what's going on but I know if it does not stop, it's going to go on and on and on."

"I heard that the kids were sitting outside and two people came up and then there was shooting," said Stephanie Symonette, the aunt of the 10-year-old who was shot in the leg.

Miami Police Officer Frederica Burden said two people drove up in a car and words were exchanged with people in front of a house. Burden said one person entered a home, came out and produced a weapon and fired shots. She said youngsters took off and the two victims ran back in to their home.

The suspects then fired shots at their home before taking off.

"The motive is unknown. There was a crowd of juveniles in the street and the shooting began after words were exchanged," said Burden.

Miami Fire Rescue Captain Ignatius Carroll Jr. said the initial call came in as five people who had been shot. However, when their rescue units arrived, they only found  the 10-year old victim and  17-year-old James Leake with gunshot wounds.

"This is just getting too much. He is 10 years old. And he's a good kid. They're just kids. I'm not one of these parents who gets on TV says he's a good kid. He's a good kid," Symonette said.

Family members said Leake was was shot in the leg and the 10-year-old boy was was shot in the buttocks.

Both were taken to the Ryder Trauma Center where they were listed as stable.

The family has been traumatized by shootings in the past.

The 10-year-old victim's older brother, 17-year-old Trayon Fussell, was shot and paralyzed last year in another incident. Trayon Fussell is now confined to a wheelchair.

"It's real hard. A year ago his older brother was shot and now there's a parallel. So it's just too much, it's too much and this stuff with children it's got to stop.

"This is too much. There is an Uncle Eric who was murdered at 13th Ave. and 41st St. a year and a half ago, and then there was Trayon and now his younger brother. It is just too much for me," said Symonette.

Miami police do not have a good description of anyone involved in the shooting or their car.

If you have any information, call Miami Police or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
