MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A bizarre twist in a deadly crash in remote southwest Miami-Dade early Thursday morning.

Around 2:30 a.m. Bonnie Graves was on her way home from work when she noticed something strange.

"I saw a car gaining on me and I figured he was probably going to slow down and I kept my eyes on the road. When I looked back into the rear view mirror and I didn't see the car anymore and I noticed a small fire and turned around and realized the car had crashed into a neighbor's yard and hit the fence," said Graves.

When she went to the crash site at SW 280th Street and 193rd Avenue, she heard a startling confession from one of the men who had been in the car.

"I spoke to the gentleman who was standing outside the wrecked car and he mentioned that he had been in the car and that his brother was still in there," said Graves. "As the car was still on fire I got in my car, dialed 911 and went home."

Graves said the man she spoke with was barely coherent. When police arrived, the man was gone - he left his brother's body behind.

Steven Quinn, who lives in the area, watched as investigators searched for clues.

"It's kind of something that is unusual. But it happens. This is a big stretch of road. You get speeders all the time. But it's very sad that we see this happening out here," said Quinn.

Quinn said he was shocked when he heard that the man had left his brother behind.

Police have not released the name of the man who died or the man who claimed to be his brother. They have also not commented on whether they suspect alcohol or speed was a factor in the crash.
