MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — A father has been desperately searching for his son who is still missing from a makeshift raft.

For two days, Lazaro Allegue has scoured the waters of Miami's Biscayne Bay and combed the thick brush on nearby keys in search of his son.

So far, he has only found an empty inner tube.

Twenty-eight-year-old Adrian Allegue is one of two rafters still missing from a makeshift vessel that carried 13 men from Cojimar, Cuba. After eight days without food or water, the men broke apart their raft and tried swimming to shore.

Eleven were rescued or made it to land Monday.

Lazaro Allegue has visited hospitals and called authorities, but no one has seen his son. Volunteers found the inner tube a mile and a half from where a surviving rafter says he was last seen. Lazaro Allegue believes it's the one that carried Adrian.
