Pouncey Brothers Won't Be Charged For Alleged Assault

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Miami Dolphins Center Mike Pouncey, and his twin brother Maurkice, who plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers, will not be charged in connection to an alleged assault at a South Beach nightclub.

On Wednesday, an attorney for the twins released a statement saying, "As expected, the Miami-Dade Office of the State Attorney has determined that the Pouncey brothers should not be charged in connection with an altercation that occurred at the Cameo Nightclub on July l2, 2014.   This confirms that the previous claim that the brothers were involved was false and fabricated by individuals seeking notoriety and monetary gain."

The alleged victims, Ricquan James, Brently Williams and Niya Pickett filed a lawsuit in connection to the alleged altercation which took place shortly after 4:00 a.m. The nightclub was also named in the lawsuit. The alleged victims were demanding $15,000 in damages from the Pouncey brothers and Cameo nightclub.

The Pouncey twins were celebrating their birthday at the club when they reportedly pushed and punched James because he's gay. The brother's security detail were also accused of using "derogatory and homophobic remarks and anti-gay slurs."

When James asked them to stop pushing and shoving him, they reportedly punched him in the face and kicked him repeatedly after he had fallen to the floor and "was laying in a fetal position."

James further suffered broken teeth and Pickett suffered from an injury to one of her eyes, which is affecting her sight," according to the lawsuit.

"Williams suffered contusions and bruises over the great extent of her body and a laceration to her leg which requited several stitches," said the suit.
