Ex-Florida Corrections Officer Convicted In Child Porn Case

JACKSONVILLE (CBSMiami/AP) - A former Florida corrections officer is facing multiple years in prison after he was convicted on several counts of possessing child porn.

Leon Perry Brooks was working for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office when authorities said they downloaded two child porn videos from an IP address registered to the 40-year old.

Authorities seized Brooks' computers and said they found multiple videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct on two computers.

A jury found Brooks guilty on four counts Wednesday and could be in federal prison for a maximum of 10 years for each count.

A sentencing date has not been set.

The case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
