Former NFL Player Arrested In Miami Beach

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Former NFL running back Larry Johnson was arrested Tuesday morning for allegedly beating a man at a Miami Beach nightclub.

Johnson, 34, was at the Delano Hotel's club when club promoter Drew Johnson,29, said he accidentally bumped into the former star.

The two reportedly knew each other, so Drew Johnson said he didn't think the bump would be an issue and started to walk away.

Blindsided, Drew Johnson was pushed over a table and punched repeatedly by Larry Johnson, according to Jose De Las Casas who witnessed the fight start.

Larry Johnson also used a broken glass bottle to attack Drew Johnson, according to authorities.

Drew Johnson had cuts on his hand and forearm from the broken bottle; his shirt was also torn. Larry Johnson also had cuts on hand and left foot from shards that had fallen into his shoe.

Delano security promptly broke up the fight and escorted Drew Johnson out where he called police.

When police arrived, Larry Johnson reportedly tried to leave the club, but was identified by Drew Johnson and other witnesses.

Larry Johnson told authorities he started the fight because he believed Drew Johnson had taken drinks from his table.

Larry Johnson was charged with aggravated battery and his bond was set at $7,500.

The last time Larry Johnson played in the NFL was in 2011 with the Miami Dolphins, but only lasted two games with the team.
