Broward ME IDs Bodies Of 4 Cuban Men Found Floating Off Hollywood Beach

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Four bodies found in the ocean off Hollywood Beach have been identified.

With the assistance of the men's family members, tattoos on the men's bodies and DNA, the Broward Medical Examiner's Office said the bodies were those of Guillermo Enrique Buitrago Milanes, 45; Jose Ramon Acosta, 35; Alberto Gonzales Mesa, 25 and 32-year old Junier Fernandez Hernandez.

Two of the bodies were spotted floating about 20 nautical miles off Hollywood Beach on August 24th by boaters who contacted the Coast Guard.

Coast Guard crews located the second two bodies a short time later.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of the deceased," said Coast Guard Capt. Mark Fedor. "While the investigation has concluded, we will continue to work with our federal, state and local partner agencies to send a clear message to anyone contemplating this dangerous and deadly voyage to reach the U.S. illegally: Don't do it. Don't risk your life, or the lives of those you love. Don't become the next soul lost at sea. While our primary concern is safety, we will also prosecute smugglers to the fullest extent possible."
