Taste Of The Town: There's More To Burgers & Beer At OTC Brickell

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- It's not just about big juicy burgers and beers at OTC Brickell, although both are delicious. It's about all the great dishes, affordable pricing, the neighborhood and pride in the product based on what Chef Jacob and owner Michael Sullivan call a scratch kitchen.

"Pretty much our Chef Jacob makes everything here from scratch from our mayo to hand cut fries, to everything here is from scratch," explained Sullivan. "That's really our biggest push in the kitchen is that we use the highest quality ingredients and do everything from scratch."

Let's not forget those craft beers. There are 26 in total, 12 of them on draft.

"What makes our draft list special is we rotate all of our drafts. You'll see something this week that you won't see again in a couple months down the road so it gives our customers a chance to experience new beers and grow with the breweries," said Sullivan proudly.

CBS4's Lisa Petrillo tried a local brew called "The Funky Buddha."

After a few sips, Petrillo said, "I like the Funky Buddha."

With the OTC 32-ounce 'Growler', customers can have their beer and take it with them.

"The idea is that beer is to-go. So, you can come here and for a purchase of 10-dollars, you buy the bottle, you fill up on any beer you want, depending on how you price it and you can take it out and enjoy it in your house," explained Sullivan.

Chef Jacob creates everything, even the tomato jam that tops the burgers.

Petrillo tackled their signature burger with two hands and a big, big bite.

"It's so tender and so juicy and flavors with the cheese and the beef cheeks, whatever that is, make it unbelievable," exclaimed Petrillo.

The Hawaiian style Tuna Pokey with Ahi Tuna, sesame seeds in a Hawaiian sauce served with crunchy yucca chips is described as a true delicacy by Petrillo.

"That's the kind of tuna you get in a 5-star restaurant. It's delicious."

The Superfood Salad lives up to its name. It's kale, avocado, strawberry, orange slices, almonds, acai vinaigrette and couscous.

"I love the dressing. It's perfectly dressed as it softens the kale but it still has the crunch," said Petrillo enjoyed her tasty meal.

OTC is open 7 days a week for lunch, dinner and brunch on the weekends.
