FIU Police: Look Out For Cyclist Grabbing Female Buttocks

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Florida International University students are watching their backs, literally.

An email alerted students to a man on a bike grabbing female's buttocks.

"When we saw it we thought that it was a joke," said student Veronique Perez.

It's hardly a joke. It happened as recently as Saturday and Sunday night but started in early this month.

The alert was sent out to students on September 4.

On two separate occasions and unknown male on a bicycle has grabbed two female's buttocks.

Some students are very concerned.

"No man has the right to violate a woman in anyway," said Daniela Seiler, a student.

CBS4's Cynthia Demos spoke with the FIU police chief about how his team is working to find the subject.

"Here we do not take anything lightly," said Chief Alexander Casas.

The cyclist could face some serious charges.

"At this point, we are investigating separate misdemeanor batteries," the chief added.

The charge could be misdemeanor battery for intentionally touching another person against their will which is punishable for up to a year in jail for each count.
