TVGN To Rebrand As 'POP'

Get ready for a pop of something more original when TVGN (formerly TV Guide Network) rebrands itself as POP, a multi-platform destination dedicated to celebrating the fun of being a fan.

CBS and Lionsgate have announced that after TVGN saw more than 80 million homes and delivered its highest primetime audience in more than five years, it will be rebranding the entertainment channel as POP.

Leslie Moonves, President and CEO of CBS Corporation, and Jon Feltheimer, CEO of Lionsgate, said, “POP is an exciting new chapter for a cable network that has made great progress and generated significant ratings momentum over the past year. Our new brand not only positions the channel for continued growth, but reflects its identity, focus and fan base.”

POP looks to create more than 400 hours of fan-fueled original programming starting in the first quarter of 2015.

The upcoming lineup for the channel will include original series such as “Rock This Boat: New Kids on the Block” which follows die-hard fans of the popular boy band as well as “The Story Behind,” which aims to go behind-the-scenes of TV’s greatest hit shows and showcase how they got started.

POP will also provide opportunities for fans to connect with other fans through multi-platform content.

TVGN has been the home of the popular “Big Brother After Dark” and soap operas “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless.”

However POP promises to be “a channel that respects talent over celebrity. A channel filled with optimism, passion, funny and excitement. A channel that understands the fun doesn’t stop when the credits roll…it’s really just the beginning.
