Publix Recalls Jalapeño Bagels

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Publix is voluntarily recalling their store brand jalapeño bagels, which were sold in either the self-service bins or artisan cases in the bakery department, because they may contain pieces of glass and small stones.

The Publix Jalapeño Bagels were distributed to Publix store locations in Florida, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina. Publix stores in Tennessee and North Carolina are not impacted by this recall. Publix was made aware of this potential product hazard by the supplier.

"As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from all affected bakery departments," said Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director.

There have been no reported cases of illness or injury. Consumers who have purchased the bagels may return them for a full refund.

Publix customers with additional questions may call the retailer's Customer Care Department at 1-800-242-1227 or by visiting www.publix.com.
