NEW YORK (CBSMiami) – Sources close to legendary comedienne Joan Rivers say she is on life support.

UPDATE: Rivers' Daughter: We Are Keeping Our Fingers Crossed

TMZ reported the news Saturday afternoon saying Rivers is completely reliant on machines to stay alive.

The TMZ sources said the family must decide in the next couple of days whether or not to keep Rivers on life support.

Family members reportedly told TMZ they are hopeful if they turn off the machines that the 81-year-old will make a turn for the better.

Rivers was rushed to a New York hospital after she stopped breathing during throat surgery on Thursday.
