Sister Of Toddler Killed In Crash Released From Hospital

MIAMI (CBSMiami) –  The family of a 3-year old boy killed in a Miami crash on Tuesday, said his sister was released from the hospital on Wednesday.

One other person remains in the hospital.

The deadly crash happened Tuesday around 5:50 PM at NW 18th Avenue and 53rd Street.

Investigators believe Kierra Lee,19, was speeding behind the wheel of a Chevy Tahoe headed westbound on NW 53rd Street, when she reportedly ran a stop sign and crashed into a Cadillac Seville, causing it to collide into a nearby home.

"The SUV apparently ran a stop sign according to the on a scene investigator," said Federica Burden.

Three-year-old Kayden Hart, according to the accident report released Wednesday, was unrestrained in the car during the time of the accident.

Kayden, according to investigators, was ejected from the SUV, which was reportedly being driven by his older sister.

"He wasn't talking, he wasn't responsive," said Cheryl Plez, a witness.

Kayden was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The man driving the Cadillac, 41-year-old Jeffrey Brinson, was  taken to the trauma center after suffering a critical leg injury. His condition Wednesday is also unknown.

The family of the three-year-old boy still can't come to terms with the split second accident that took the boy's life.

"I didn't believe it until I saw him that he was gone," said Kloni Matthews, Kayden's cousin.

Witnesses said Kierra Lee held her brother in her lap as she cried out for help.

"She was hysterical, she was screaming, hollering, crying, asking people what should she do what should she do," said Plez.

Kayden was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the boy's father works at the hospital and found out about the accident as his son was being rushed into the emergency room.
