HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) -- A dog and her owner were reunited Friday after an armed man stole the beloved family pet earlier this week in Hollywood.

Officers spotted "India" the Yorkshire Terrier along the Dixie Highway corridor.

"They followed her for a little while," said Damica Clark, the dog's owner. "(She) went into a house with deep, tall bushes and they said she just collapsed. She looked exhausted."

The officers took her to Hollywood Animal Hospital where she was found to be in stable condition. That's where she was reunited with Damica , who, just days before, was pleading with the public to help find her pet.

India was "dog-napped" at gunpoint early Tuesday morning in Hollywood, then found days later with cuts and bruises.

"She's just down and out," said Damica as she held India closely."I haven't heard her bark or yelp yet. She's always excited.  I just can't image what she's been through."

Clark couldn't be happier to have her pride and joy back. The past few days have been a nightmare for her.  She dropped India off with her brother, Derin Clark on Monday.

Derin Clark said he was walking India near 2134 Washington Street when he was approached by a man who wanted to sell him something.

"As I turned around he was like, 'Well, look. I got this for you' and it was kind of like a pistol in my ribs," Derin said.

The little Yorkie was nabbed by the gunman when her brother was robbed.

"The gunman took her and swung her by her leash," said Clark. "She was sliding across the concrete and then he threw her in the SUV by her leash."

The man then left in a dark color SUV with hazed headlights.

Vets at Hollywood Animal Hospital said despite the cuts, scrapes, a bruised eye and some broken teeth, India should be okay.

The plan now is simple. India is really going to be spoiled.

"Recovery and a lot of cuddling," said Clark. "I'm going to try to take off work for another few days and just sit with her. I'm just happy."

Detectives are still searching for the robber described as a black male, about 6'0" to 6'1" tall with cropped hair and a stocky build.

Anyone with information is urged to call Broward Crimestoppers at (954) 493 - TIPS.
