MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Whether it’s the over-sized sushi sampler at Makoto at Bal Harbour Shops or the elegant Filet Mignon at The Forge Miami Beach, it’s time to make reservations for Miami Spice.

For the next two month more than 35 of South Florida’s top restaurants will be offering three course meals for less.  It’s $39.00 per person for dinner and $23 for lunch.

“This was a program designed 13 years ago to get people into the high-end restaurants, the restaurants people couldn’t afford to go into. Now they have the opportunity to have a three course dinner for $39 dollars in the best restaurants in Miami,” said Steven Haas, Chairman of The Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Chef Todd Erickson will be serving up some of his special plates for this year’s Miami Spice menu at Haven on South Beach.

“I think its great for the community that everyone gets so excited about it. It puts the ‘in’ restaurants that might be out of people’s price ranges down to where they can get an incredible deal,” said Erickson.

Haven is best described as “techno cool” thanks to its constantly changing video backdrop wall, hydraulic tables and cool lighting.

“Just from the name, Haven, you see it’s a place of comfort and a refuge,” said Erickson. “Once you get in, you are surrounded by the beautiful walls with technology and it gets more progressive.”

“Eater Miami” named Chef Todd the hottest chef in 2012. It could be a combination of his boyish good looks and his great technique in the kitchen.

“It’s global small plates,” said Todd. “We have incredible sushi and then meat. It’s an eclectic mix. It’s like picking up a bag and seeing what sticks,” he said.

For Taste of the Town, CBS4’s Lisa Petrillo was served up a dish from the Miami Spice menu. She tasted red snapper with baby potatoes with a hazelnut Romesco sauce.

“It’s a heavenly fish dish,” said Petrillo.

Petrillo described the deviled eggs she was served as a work of art. Half were made from white truffle and dill with micro chives while the other half had smoked paprika and green olives.

“This not the deviled eggs your Mama used to make, “ joked Petrillo.

“No, but these will make mama proud,” Todd responded.

“They are decadent and delicious,” said Petrillo after tasting the dish. “I’d have these for breakfast, lunch or dinner.”

The Miami Spice Program starts August 1st and runs until September 30th.
